Today Ericsson and Juniper Networks announced an agreement to expand the capacity and coverage of TelstraClear's inter-city and metropolitan IP networks in New Zealand. Deployment of the new equipment will begin in several major centres this month.
This latest deployment extends TelstraClear's existing 'Private IP' Virtual Private Network (VPN) service incorporating Juniper Networks M-series and ERX Edge Routers.
Under the agreement with TelstraClear, Ericsson will deliver an expanded IP core and access network capable of delivering TelstraClear VPN service based on the Juniper router products.
Ericsson's VPN rollout is part of the expansion of TelstraClear's converged IP Network.
"By widening the reach of Private IP, even more businesses will have access to a service which moves data, voice and multimedia over an affordable ultra-highspeed network," says Thana Velummylum, Chief of Customer Operations at TelstraClear.
"While it takes a range of sophisticated systems to provide Private IP, it's delightfully simple for customers - just plug in and go."
Ericsson was also appointed as Prime Integrator by TelstraClear for New Zealand's first carrier class converged IP Core Access Network in March 2001.
"The expansion of TelstraClear's VPN further strengthens the relationship between our two companies in New Zealand. This is a strategic decision in determining the future position of TelstraClear's converged network," says On-Fai Lam, General Manager (TelstraClear Account) for Ericsson New Zealand.
Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
