Collibra, a leading Data Governance software vendor, today announced it has closed a Series A investment round with € 1 million in venture financing led by Newion Investments. This brings the total amount raised to date to € 2, 2 million. The financing will enable the company to continue to invest in product development and sales & marketing in order to assure its leading position as a data governance software vendor.
Collibra is focused on bridging the gap between the business and IT in order to drive management and control of the data from a business perspective. Gartner has recently recognized Collibra for its innovation in Information Governance by naming it Cool Vendor in Information Management. Collibra has also been awarded the title “Young Innovative Enterprise” by the Brussels Capital Region based on its innovative business plan. Collibra is supporting data governance initiatives at various major enterprises in the financial service industry, healthcare industry, and governments around the world.
“
This investment comes at a perfect time,” said Felix Van de Maele, CEO of Collibra. “
As data is becoming more and more a strategic asset, it is no surprise that Data Governance has become a top priority for many large organizations. This investment ensures Collibra will continue to be a thought leader in this quickly growing market segment.”
“
When we first met Collibra early 2010 we found it was an interesting company to keep an eye on. When we continued discussions in 2011 we were very impressed by the Team, the Product and the progress the company had made since our first introduction”, said Patrick Polak, Managing Partner of Newion Investments Management. “
In a world where data is growing exponentially, Data Governance is crucial. We are excited to participate in the further expansion of Collibra. The stage in which Collibra finds itself today, and the market domain in which they are active, perfectly matches our investment criteria”.
