Arnhem, The Netherlands – 21 April 2009 – A.E.T. Europe B.V. (AET), market leader in cryptographic middleware, today announced that it has joined the McAfee® Security Innovation Alliance™ (SIA) partner program. Under the McAfee SIA program, AET’s SafeSign Identity Client is now integrated with McAfee Endpoint Encryption, enabling joint customers to use JCOP smart cards to authenticate in pre-boot to their full disk encryption solution.SafeSign Identity Client (IC) delivers strong authentication with cryptographic smart cards and USB tokens offering complete freedom and flexibility. SafeSign IC enforces two factor security, requiring the end user to have both the USB token or smart card (something you have) and a Personal Identity Number (something you know). USB tokens and smart cards are physically and logically tamper resistant, ensuring that the end user’s digital credentials can not be copied, modified or shared.
“The Security Innovation Alliance enables McAfee customers to leverage their investments in McAfee while adding complementary capabilities not found in McAfee’s core offerings. The combination of SafeSign Identity Client (IC) with McAfee Endpoint Encryption software pre-boot authentication offers a powerful combination of authentication, access control and hard disk encryption,” according to Reinoud Weijman, Managing Director of AET.
McAfee Endpoint Encryption software has made it easier for users to secure critical information. But simply using passwords to authenticate users can still put a company at risk, as the use of passwords, apart from being inconvenient, has well-known and widely published security limitations. For that reason McAfee Endpoint Encryption software supports in its pre-boot authentication function smart cards and USB tokens, including those types that feature PKI functionality.
“We are pleased to add A.E.T. Europe B.V. to the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance,” said Joe Gottlieb, vice president of corporate strategy and technology alliances, McAfee. “Our joint customers face growing challenges to secure their networks and maintain compliance, and are looking to deploy AET’s strong certificate based authentication with their McAfee solutions.”
